Gray Season Begins
When we were living in Djibouti, we joked about the hot season, the hotter season and the really, really hot season. Here in Nairobi the seasonal changes are very different. We have two rainy seasons - one supposedly shorter and less rainy than the other - though we couldn't tell you which is which after this year. In between the rainy seasons, and often between rains, it is usually beautiful, warm and sunny - never too hot, nor too cold.
However, now we are entering the 2-3 month Gray Season when the sun only appears sporadically, rain is a light drizzle, and it is constantly cold. This is the time of the year when we used to visit Kenya from Djibouti. Our memories of Nairobi from that time were sitting around a fireplace trying to keep warm. Now we live here, and there is no fireplace!
