Graduation at NIST
NIST celebrated its 23rd graduation on Saturday, June 9. The commencement speaker was Tokunboh Adeyemo, who has written several books and is one of the most well-known evangelical African theologians. It was a very nice ceremony, and though 2-3 hours long, it really didn't seem so. There were about 30 total graduates and nearly 500 family and friends attending to watch. These sort of ceremonies and special ways of dressing seem to be very important here.Four of my students graduated from the diploma program. I also knew several more students through interacting during wakati ya chai (tea-time) and lunch.
I didn't get many good photos, because the lecturers were seated behind the podium. So we mostly had views of everyone's backsides. Fortunately, my students were sitting in the front row.
