School for Apostles

This week we are at Black Rock Retreat Center in Quarryville, PA. We are attending the School for Apostles.

Only Alia is with us this week. Jordan is visiting his cousins in Damascus, MD. And Jessica is by herself, continuing her summer job at a local restaurant.

Alia is enjoying the free time in the afternoon to test out her water wings in the pond. She is proud of her new found 'swimming' skills.

Alejandro Colindres, the main speaker, is being translated by Antonio Ulloa, an old friend of Mike's from seminary. We weren't certain what to expect this week. It is the first time that we have attended this retreat. We only knew that it was designed for church planters. Leaders from Spanish-speaking churches, Vietnamese churches, African-American churches, etc. are here this week. It has been a spiritually refreshing and uplifting time for us.

The most unpleasant part of being missionaries

We are beginning the process of packing up and storing all those things that we won't take with us to Kenya, but that we may wish to keep in the long run; books, quilts, photos, winter coats. Cindy has also taken clothes, books and toys to thrift shops.
